    EAA Chapter 231 YOUNG EAGLES
    Monday Jan 01, 2018 @ 10:30 AM — 01:30 AM

    THIS EVENT IS 100% FREE!

EAA Chapter 231 will be hosting an EAA Young Eagles event on Monday, January 01, 2018 at the Louisa County Airport. This is a program where children ages 8 to 17 can get a free introductory flight in a small airplane. Flights will start at approximately 10:30 AM and will continue for several hours depending on weather and how many children attend. Participants should plan to arrive approximately 30-60 min prior to their requested time. Flights are not guaranteed and will be based on weather conditions and pilot/aircraft availability.

PLEASE CHECK THE EAA 231 WEBSITE (address below) the NIGHT BEFORE and MORNING of the event for delay or cancellation information. Pre-registered participants will also be notified of any delays or cancellation VIA TEXT AND/OR EMAIL if contact information was provided.

Children must have a parent or legal guardian PRESENT to authorize the flight. Please complete this online registration information for each of your children that will participate.

Advance registration will significantly reduce registration times on the day of the event.

You can email Barry Toole (barry.toole@hush.com) if you have questions.

    Meet your Pilot

The pilots who participate in the Young Eagles program are local members of EAA who are volunteering their time and aircraft to make your flight possible.  Each Young Eagles pilot is certificated with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada.  Flights are conducted according to federal regulations and no aerobatic maneuvers will be performed.

What wiill my pre-flight be like?

First of all, your pilot will explain what you will see and do.  This may incldue explaining how airplanes work, looking at an aeronautical chart (or map), and describing the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel.  Then comes the fun part: you get to go flying!

    Safety Reminders

Safety is always top priority when it comes to aviation.  Listen and follow instructions given by your pilot, stay away from the propellers, and stay with your pilot or ground crew at all times.

What will my flight be like?

You will spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the air and follow the basic steps in the flight pattern.  You will experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about.  Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives.  You will, too!
