    Young Eagles Rally
    Young Eagles Rally
    EAA Chapter 1600 YOUNG EAGLES
    Saturday Aug 19, 2017 @ 09:00 AM — 12:00 PM

    THIS EVENT IS 100% FREE!

Area young people ages 8-17 will have a chance to take to the skies as Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1600 hosts a Young Eagles Flight Rally at Delaware Municipal Airport – Jim Moore Field (KDLZ).  The rally is part of the EAA Young Eagles Program, created to interest young people in aviation.  Since the program was launched in 1992, Volunteer EAA pilots have flown more than 2 million young people who reside in more than 90 countries.

Pilots at the event will also explain more about their airplanes allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and how pilots ensure safety is the prime concern before every flight.

EAA Chapter 1600 will also be hosting a Pancake breakfast consisting of cooked to order eggs, pancakes, and sausage (Donations Accepted) from 8:00am until 10:00am at the EAA Chapter 1600 Shelter House at the Delaware Municipal Airport.

    Meet your Pilot

The pilots who participate in the Young Eagles program are local members of EAA who are volunteering their time and aircraft to make your flight possible.  Each Young Eagles pilot is certificated with the Federal Aviation Administration or Transport Canada.  Flights are conducted according to federal regulations and no aerobatic maneuvers will be performed.

What wiill my pre-flight be like?

First of all, your pilot will explain what you will see and do.  This may incldue explaining how airplanes work, looking at an aeronautical chart (or map), and describing the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel.  Then comes the fun part: you get to go flying!

    Safety Reminders

Safety is always top priority when it comes to aviation.  Listen and follow instructions given by your pilot, stay away from the propellers, and stay with your pilot or ground crew at all times.

What will my flight be like?

You will spend about 15 to 20 minutes in the air and follow the basic steps in the flight pattern.  You will experience the awesome feeling of flight that many people only dream about.  Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives.  You will, too!
